High Atlas

The mountain range that separates Marrakech from the desert, with villages, passes and North Africa's highest peak.

The High Atlas runs for 700 kilometres and every tour to the Sahara crosses it by the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 metres. Closer to Marrakech, the Imlil valley at the foot of Toubkal (4,167 m) is the base for day hikes between Berber villages, and the Ourika Valley is the easiest introduction to mountain life.
