Waterfalls, Berber villages and lunch by the river, less than an hour from Marrakech.
The Ourika Valley is where Marrakchis go to breathe. In under an hour the city gives way to walnut trees, terraced fields and the roar of the river. We visit a Berber family home for tea and bread baked in the clay oven, then walk with a local guide to the first waterfalls at Setti Fatma. Lunch is a tagine on a terrace with your feet almost in the water.
It is the gentlest of our day trips and the one we suggest for families with small children and for anyone with a late flight.
